Dental Assistant Since 1985, Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless has dedicated its mission exclusively to providing services to people experiencing homelessness. AHCH provides a distinctive continuum of integrated care through outreach and site-based services to address the health-related causes and consequences of homelessness. Our vision is to live in a world that is just and without homelessness. We believe that homelessness is an issue that can be solved through access to quality health care, adequate and affordable housing, and a living wage. Are you looking for a career change or to expand your skill set? We may be the right fit for you! We are currently looking for full-time (40 hours per week) Dental Assistant to join our team. Our ideal candidate would be a team player and have previous experience in a clinic or hospital setting with underserved populations. Compassion for and an understanding of the wide variety of issues for those experiencing homelessness is a must. Our DA team works in rotating schedules doing outreach work in the field and in our clinic. We work from a harm reduction model and believe in meeting people where they are at. We view patient care holistically and work in a multidisciplinary fashion to connect our patients to various resources within our organization and without. Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless (AHCH) offers a unique opportunity where we may cover Dental Assistant Training costs for interested candidates in exchange for a 2-year employment commitment, with a prorated arrangement if the commitment is not fulfilled. We comply with all OSHA and CDC guidelines regarding PPE and have various procedures in place to safeguard employees. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Background in customer service or dental (MA, CNA, DA, etc)
- High School Diploma or GEDFlexibility to work with multiple providers
- Ability to thrive in a complex healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program with current X-ray certification
- Experience working with underserved populations or people experiencing homelessness
- Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma informed philosophies
- Bilingual or Spanish Speaking
