About the role
- General Marketing
- Support execution of campaigns that convert free subscribers into paid members, including working closely with the Subscriptions team to help identify top targets and assist with nurture campaigns
- Help build out messaging and audience segmentation plans for custom editorial products alongside the Director of Marketing and our digital ads partner
- Contribute ideas for marketing activations tied to events and partnerships, from experiences that drive member value to tactics that generate subscriptions
- Produce collateral for our sales teams, from product one-pagers and testimonials to case studies and pitch decks
- Social Media
- Support the Digital Content team in executing a strategy that turns organic social media engagement into subscription and list growth
- Help promote events, partnerships and products across channels, supporting efforts to use each as a tool to boost subscriptions
- Work closely with our digital ads partner to help create and refine paid social campaigns as needed across platforms
- Engage in social listening to track mentions of Punchbowl News across platforms
- Email & Newsletters
- Draft the monthly marketing newsletter for the Portal, our legislative intelligence platform, to promote key updates and features to existing and potential subscribers
- Write copy for marketing promotions in our newsletters that highlight products, launches and important milestones
- Support list-building efforts for key marketing initiatives such as Premium+ newsletter trials and event promotions, while helping qualify leads
- Help execute email campaigns designed to capture data and convert free subscribers to paid members
- Performance Tracking
- Monitor marketing metrics regularly, from cost-per-acquisition to pageviews and social media engagement, and flag trends or suggest adjustments to optimize campaign performance
- Help compile and report relevant data to stakeholders on a regular basis, such as tracking content that is effectively driving subscriptions for the editorial team
- Assist in building A/B testing plans to find what works across areas like marketing campaigns and social posting to identify areas for improvement
- 2-4 years of relevant experience (newsroom experience a plus)
- Experience using an email service provider or CRM for emails and list creation. Experience with HubSpot is a bonus, though not required
- Experience with organic or paid social media advertising a plus
- Strong copywriting skills and ability to engage in marketing speak authentically
- An interest in data and leveraging it to make informed decisions
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
- Enthusiasm for politics, journalism and digital storytelling
- A yearning to constantly grow and stay updated on marketing trends
- Experience working within a subscription or membership-oriented business is preferred
- Design experience a plus, though not required
- The salary for this role is in the range of $75,000-$95,000. Final compensation will be based on scope, work experience, and relevant skills.
