Additional information about the company and open positions can be found at www.coreslab.com/precast-concrete-careers/Role Description The Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ, responsible for leading engineering activities related to precast concrete building projects. The position of Engineering Manager carries the responsibility of managing engineering, drafting, project managers, and Quality Control. The Engineering Manager reports directly to the General Manager/Vice President.This role oversees and mentors an engineering team, coordinates workloads, and ensures that design deliverables meet safety, quality, and code requirements. Daily responsibilities include managing project timelines and resources, reviewing and approving engineering drawings and calculations, and collaborating with project managers, production, and erection teams to integrate engineering solutions into construction plans. The Engineering Manager engages with clients and design partners to clarify technical requirements, resolve engineering issues, and support cost-effective structural solutions. This position also drives process improvements, supports integration of new tools and technologies, and promotes adherence to company standards and regulatory guidelines.Overall management of engineering and drafting staff including project management. Planning and organizing department to meet project schedules and deadlines.Oversee the Quality Control Department and Quality Control Supervisors. Ensures adherence to our Quality Systems Manual and PCI Standard of Practice.Monitor and maintain job budgets and overall departmental budget.Maintains and implements drafting and design standards based on current codes as well as best practices.Negotiates and executes contracts with outside drafting and design consultants for which work is not performed in-house. Provides design assistance to sales when needed and provides estimating costs for Drafting and Design scope on upcoming projects. Responsible for ensuring new engineers and/or existing staff get training needed. Works closely with other departments such as production and erection to ensure design and detailing of product is most efficient.Maintains positive and high morale among department employees.Minimal QualificationsGraduate of an accredited college or university with a B.S. in Civil Engineering minimumEight years of precast prestressed concrete design experienceFive years of related management experience in the precast industryMust be able to demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in written formMust be well versed in building codes such as IBC, and reference standards such as ACI, ASCE, and PCIMust be well versed in many engineering software programs, as well as Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), etc.Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in Arizona & Nevada or ability to obtain (S.E. a plus)
