About the role
The Controller will serve as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing the law firm's accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and overall financial health. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment and enjoys driving operational excellence, process improvements, and strategic decision-making. CPA or CPA track required (or equivalent if from another country). This position is fully on-site in Northwest Miami-Dade. Local candidates please. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a track record of managing complex financial operations within a professional services or similarly sophisticated business environment. Experience with trust/IOLTA accounting, settlement disbursements, case cost tracking, and financial controls is highly valued. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the firm's continued growth while ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management activities.
- Deliver financial analysis, KPIs, and strategic insights to support executive decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, trust accounting, and internal controls.
- Lead and develop the accounting team while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Partner with firm leadership and external advisors to support growth, profitability, and financial strategy.
- Maintain compliance with government agencies
- Act as the point of contact for external auditors

- Active CPA license strongly preferred, but CPA track candidates (or equivalent if from another country) will also be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership experience within a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager capacity.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
- Experience leading and developing accounting teams in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms a huge plus.
- Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills, with the ability to develop meaningful reports, dashboards, and business insights.
- Experience within a professional services environment, including trust/IOLTA accounting, settlement accounting, or case-cost accounting, is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle highly confidential information.
- Bilingual English/Spanish and experience supporting a multi-office organization are a plus.
