About the role
One SparQ is looking for a Senior Buyer for a military and defense manufacturer in Whippany, NJ.
Required Skills:
5+ years of experience in buying or purchasing manufacturing components Experience buying or purchasing in the military, defense, medical or aerospace industry Strong understanding of ERP systems Proficient in Excel Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or Business
Additional Skills: (not required)Experience improving buying / purchasing processes
Responsibilities:
Manage purchasing of machined components and complex assemblies in a high-pressure manufacturing environment Negotiate pricing, price breaks, long-term agreements, lead times, and priority commitments with suppliers Monitor purchasing performance including PPV, supplier delivery, material availability, and cost savings opportunities Build strong supplier relationships and proactively resolve shortages, delivery issues, and production constraints Manage purchasing activities through ERP systems while maintaining accurate supplier, pricing, and order information Identify and implement improvements to purchasing processes, supplier performance, and overall procurement efficiency
