About the role

Overview In this role you will engineer data services to support AI and scientific workflows at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility. You will work within the Data Services and Workflows group to expose terabytes to petabytes of data to users and AI models, focusing on ingestion, indexing, and search. You’ll structure data for efficient search and expose it through web apps and high-performance APIs. You will collaborate with science teams to solve data management challenges and contribute to large-scale scientific initiatives, applying your skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilitiesdesign and implement data services to expose large scientific datasets to users and AI applicationsdevelop data ingestion, indexing, and search pipelines for diverse data typesstructure data for efficient search aligned with project requirementsbuild user-facing web applications and high-performance APIscollaborate with science application teams to understand domain data and project needsdeploy and operate solutions in diverse environments (Kubernetes, HPC) and ensure software qualitywork in a cross-functional, collaborative environment with academia, industry, and national labscontribute to broader scientific initiatives and data management strategies Key requirements Bachelor's with 5+ years, or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 0+ years in a relevant field Degree in computer science, computational science, a physical science, engineering, or related field Programming experience in Python and/or C/C++Experience with at least one data management framework (e.g., Open Metadata)Experience deploying in diverse environments (Kubernetes, HPC)Ability to create, maintain, and support high-quality software Experience with version control (git)Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Effective written and oral communication skills Alignment with Argonne’s core values: impact, safety, respect, integrity and teamworkcollaborativeclear communicatorteam-oriented PythonC/C++Open Metadata or similar data management framework
