About the role

Child Nutrition Service Operator Under general supervision assists with ensuring that the district's Vision, Mission and Goals are achieved; and responsible for the preparation and serving of food complying with the Federal guidelines. Responsible for complying with the sanitation, personal hygiene standards by following established food production policies and procedures for the health, comfort and benefit of the students. Service Operators reports to Child Nutrition Manager. Prepare menu items from written recipes and verbal directions; Make decisions regarding scheduling of daily food production to ensure timely, quality service of menu items and by effectively using time between workloads; Assist in serving students by following USDA guidelines; Repeatedly lift, bend, push, stoop, pull and walk; Maintain high standards of personal hygiene; Clean assigned area following proper sanitation procedures, to include all equipment, sweep and mop floors and bathroom; Provide each customer food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness and personal caring; Work as a positive member of the Child Nutrition Services Team; Participate in team processes for continuous improvement; Knowledge of measuring, weighing, following recipes and operating equipment in a production kitchen; Flexible and receptive to change; and Perform other duties as assigned. High school diploma or equivalent Knowledge in basic math and able to read; and knowledge of how to read and follow recipes Revised 3-22-12 Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast paced environment Working conditions require lifting up to 35 pounds, carrying, pushing, and or pulling, stooping and walking. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment. Berkeley County School District is a smoke free district.
