Job Description: Red Cross Elementary is seeking a dynamic educator to be our school’s Library Media Specialist.
Job Description: The Library Media Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering a love for reading, information literacy, and technology integration in the school community. This position involves collaboration with educators and students to enhance learning through the effective use of library resources, media technologies, and other technological resources.
Key Responsibilities: Collection Development:
Curate and maintain a diverse and inclusive collection of print and digital resources that supports the curriculum and addresses the interests of the student body. Instructional Support: Collaborate with teachers to integrate information and technology literacy skills into the curriculum, providing instruction on research methodologies and the use of library resources. Technology Integration: Assist students and staff in utilizing technology and digital resources for research and learning, including online databases, artificial intelligence, and other digital resources. Program Development: Design and implement library programs, events, and activities that promote reading, information literacy, technology literacy, and digital citizenship.
User Services: Provide reference and research assistance to students and faculty, guiding them in locating and evaluating information effectively. Collaboration: Work with school staff to develop interdisciplinary units, integrating library resources to enhance student learning outcomes. Professional Development: Stay current with trends in library science, media technology, and education, participating in ongoing professional development and training.
Qualifications: Certification or licensure as a school library media specialist.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with digital tools and educational technologies. Passion for fostering a love of reading and learning in students.
Working Conditions: The Library Media Specialist typically works in a school environment, collaborating with students, teachers, and staff. The role may require flexibility in hours to accommodate library events or schedules. Certified Salary is dependent on years of services and rank level of the candidate.
