Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising the safe, reliable, and efficient day-to-day operation of HKN Syria's production and gas processing facilities, including producing wells, separation, processing, and associated surface facilities. Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the role leads a team of production operators on shift or rotation, directs daily field operations, monitors production performance, and responds to abnormal and emergency situations to maintain safe and continuous production in line with approved procedures and targets. The position requires strong production operations experience, hands-on field knowledge of oil and gas facilities, sound judgement under pressure, and the ability to enforce HSSE and permit-to-work requirements in a demanding, remote field environment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Production Operations Supervision:
Supervise the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of producing wells, separation, processing, and surface production facilities.
Direct and monitor field operations to meet production targets while maintaining safe operating limits and procedures.
Monitor key production parameters (rates, pressures, temperatures, levels) and direct adjustments to optimise production and stability.
Coordinate well line-ups, start-ups, shutdowns, and routine operating activities in line with approved procedures.
Team Leadership & Shift Management:
Lead, supervise, and develop a team of production operators on shift or rotation, allocating tasks and ensuring competency standards are met.
Conduct shift handovers, toolbox talks, and operations briefings to ensure clear communication and continuity.
Provide on-the-job guidance, training, and mentoring to operators on operating procedures and best practices.
Ensure adequate manning and coverage of all production areas during operations.
Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Coordination:
Respond to process upsets, alarms, and abnormal or emergency situations, taking corrective action to restore safe and stable operations.
Identify and report production losses, equipment problems, and operational issues, and support troubleshooting and resolution.
Coordinate with maintenance, production engineering, and other disciplines for permits, isolations, and field work.
Maintain accurate production logs, shift reports, and operating records.
HSSE & Compliance:
Ensure all production activities comply with HKN HSSE policies, operating procedures, and the permit-to-work system at all times.
Act as a frontline focal point during emergencies, supporting emergency response and isolation as required.
Promote a strong safety culture and report incidents, near-misses, and hazards to the Production Superintendent.
Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma or technical qualification in a relevant discipline (process / production operations, chemical, mechanical engineering, or related); degree an advantage.
Minimum 8 years of production operations experience in oil and gas facilities, including a supervisory or senior operator role.
Hands-on experience operating producing wells, separation, gas processing, and surface production facilities.
Proven ability to lead and supervise a team of production operators on shift or rotation.
Strong knowledge of production operating procedures, process safety, and safe operating limits.
Ability to respond effectively to process upsets and emergency situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
Familiarity with permit-to-work systems, isolations, and field coordination with maintenance.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
Willingness to work rotational and shift schedules in remote field locations in Syria.
Demonstrated commitment to HSSE standards, permit-to-work systems, and safe operating practices in field environments.
