Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionPosition Objective: To use a variety of undercover investigative methods to conduct undercover investigations in PETA's focus areas, including the use of animals for food, clothing, experimentation, and entertainmentLocation: Varies based on assignmentPrimary Responsibilities and Duties: Travel to different states and temporarily stay on location for various assignments for as long as necessary, sometimes several months at a timeConduct assigned short- and long-term undercover investigations from beginning to end, including the following duties:o Prepare for and research assignments, as directed by the vice presidento Visit and/or obtain employment in various industries that use animalso Submit daily log notes in a detailed and orderly fashiono Use photography and videography to document conditions and use of animals, as well as illegal, cruel, and/or improper conducto Behave legally and professionally and bring issues to the superiors' attentiono Work closely with office-based staff to develop documented caseso Cooperate fully in criminal, civil, and/or regulatory/administrative proceedings that result from undercover investigations • Maintain strict confidentiality at all timesRequirementsAppropriate experience in a related field or relevant experience, depending on the organization's needsWillingness and ability to travel and be away from home for months at a timeSpanish fluency requiredExperience with audio-visual equipmentDiligent attention to detail and ability to handle extreme stressWillingness and ability to follow instructions carefullyAbility to make sound judgmentsProven ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion at all timesMust be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving recordAbility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basisCommitment to the objectives of the organizationThe hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
