Weekender Program – Salary and Schedule Overview
Individuals hired for a Weekender position are required to work two (2) 12-hour shifts between 7:00 PM Friday and 7:00 AM Monday. In return for this commitment, Weekenders will be compensated at 1.5 times their regular hourly rate for these shifts. Individuals in Weekender roles qualify for full-time medical and dental benefits, whereas eligibility for all other benefits is at part-time levels.
A Brief OverviewThe Surgical Technologist maintains sterile conditions, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and ensures that all instruments and supplies are available and properly handled. The first level in the Surgical Technologist career ladder.
What You Will Do:
Provide safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using nursing interventions in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.
Provide patient care/function in a primary scrub position.
Assist with technical responsibilities in assigned operative procedures.
Assure appropriate instruments/supplies are present and in proper working condition.
Provide labeled medications with correct doses on the sterile field.
Support the operative team, includes following patient care hand off protocol.
Actively participate in the quality improvement process.
Involved in learning and self-improvement.
Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all policies and standards.
For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
EducationGraduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program (Required) or
completion of a military Surgical Technologist training program (Required)
Work ExperienceThorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesThorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture and surgical procedures. (Required proficiency)
Use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies. (Required proficiency)
Ability to take direction and work in a team environment
Ability to use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies
Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required within 90 Days)
