About the role
Assistant Project ManagerWe are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support project delivery across commercial and retail construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers to coordinate schedules, manage documentation (RFIs, submittals), track progress, and ensure projects meet quality, cost, and safety objectives. This role is ideal for a proactive APM with construction exposure who can communicate clearly with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Project Managers in planning, executing, and closing projects, ensuring timelines and budgets are metPrepare, track, and manage RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation; coordinate responses and approvalsMaintain and update project schedules, identify critical path items, and communicate schedule impacts to stakeholdersCoordinate subcontractors, vendors, and site teams to facilitate on-time work and resolve site issuesUse Bluebeam and other document management tools to review drawings, markup documents, and maintain accurate recordsAssist with cost control activities including tracking budgets, change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing supportPrepare regular project reports, meeting minutes, and progress updates for internal and client distributionSupport quality control and safety compliance by monitoring on-site activities and ensuring adherence to project specifications and standardsContribute to project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built documentation, and turnover packagesAct as a point of contact for routine client and stakeholder communications, escalating issues to the Project Manager when necessaryQualificationsPrevious experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Associate Project Manager, APM, or similar role (construction industry experience preferred)Familiarity with commercial and retail construction projects and their unique scheduling and coordination needsProven experience managing RFIs and submittals through the project lifecycleProficiency with Bluebeam and common project tools (scheduling software, MS Office); experience with scheduling and document control preferredStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track details, and meet deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interacting with clients, subcontractors, and internal teamsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsBasic understanding of construction cost tracking, change order processes, and contract documentationRelevant degree or certification (Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related) or equivalent on-the-job experienceValid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as requiredNice-to-have: direct retail construction experience and familiarity with commercial project proceduresBenefitsVacation/PTOMedicalDentalVision401kFor this position you must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
