About the role
Flex Staff is hiring an Opto-Mechanical Product Engineer for our client, an aerospace and industrial manufacturing company located in Deer Park, NY.This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a motivated engineer to join a dynamic team focused on the design, development, manufacturing, and continuous improvement of precision optics products and systems. The ideal candidate will have a BS and/or MS in Opto-Mechanical Engineering along with 3+ years of experience in precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design and product development within a technical manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering drawings is required, and Solid Works experience is preferred.
What You’ll Do:
Partner with senior engineering staff to learn existing optical systems, product designs, manufacturing methods, engineering practices, and technical history Document critical knowledge and grow into technical ownership of assigned products Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical assemblies and systems Conduct engineering analysis and create prototypes, CAD models, detailed drawings, BOMs, specifications, test requirements, and supporting technical documentation Support existing products by troubleshooting production issues, implementing design changes, performing root-cause analysis, and driving manufacturing improvements Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Commercial, and other teams to support business priorities and customer needs Share technical knowledge and best practices across sites to support global product engineering efforts
