About the role
A mid-sized construction company in New York City is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to oversee the full scope of union payroll operations.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister full-cycle union payroll for 60+ employeesProcess and reconcile union remittances, certified payrolls, and prevailing wage reportsManage workers' compensation claims, payroll audits, and compliance reporting (OSHA, EEOC, OCIP/CCIP)Ensure compliance with NYS unemployment and payroll tax regulationsHandle job costing, payroll reconciliations, and identify/correct discrepancies within Sage 300Generate and format Excel reports (tables, payroll packages, data analysis)Support payroll system transition (experience with ADP Workforce Now is a plus)Assist with payroll audits, garnishments, benefit remittances, and collaborate with leadership on payroll complianceQualifications3+ years of experience in construction bookkeepingHands-on experience with Sage 300 or TimberlineExceptional attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to work independentlyBenefitsFully paid health insurance (individual and family coverage)401(k) with 5% company matchFlexible time off
