About the role

Ana Bios, San Diego (Weekends Required)Ana Bios offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of human-relevant drug discovery, using functional human tissues and cells to help researchers better predict how potential therapies will perform in patients. Its proprietary ex vivo human platforms bring real human biology into the earliest stages of drug development, helping pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies make better decisions, reduce translational risk, and ultimately advance safer, more effective medicines. By joining our team, you will become part of a very small pool of scientists with the privilege to conduct cutting edge research on tissues and organs. At Ana Bios we will give you the opportunity to study the pathophysiology of human diseases, instead of artificial animal models. On a daily basis, you will be engaged in fascinating experiments involving the isolation, culture and interrogation of live human neurons, hepatocytes, cardiomyocytes isolated from donors and live human tissues precision cut slices. These studies are the new frontier in the discovery of new treatments for chronic pain, neurodegeneration, liver, and cardiac diseases.
Pay: From $26.00 per hour Job Type Full-time Ideal for early-career scientists Flexible schedule required, including regular evening and weekend work as part of the standard work schedule.
Education & Experience: B.S. degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field required Minimum 1 year of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting Hands-on cell culture experience strongly preferred About the Role Join Ana Bios and contribute to cutting-edge research using human tissue and cell-based disease models to advance the development of novel therapies. As part of a specialized scientific team, you will support studies focused on chronic pain, neurodegenerative, liver, and cardiovascular diseases. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for early-career scientists to apply their laboratory skills, gain exposure to innovative translational research, and grow professionally in a collaborative, science-driven environment.

Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot standard laboratory equipment, including pH meters, analytical balances, osmometers, and hot plate/stirrers. Maintain laboratory inventories by monitoring supplies, ordering materials, and restocking consumables. Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assist in the development and revision of laboratory procedures as needed. Maintain accurate laboratory records and document experimental activities. Perform routine laboratory housekeeping, including glassware cleaning, non-hazardous waste disposal, and occasional biohazard waste handling. Work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to support project goals. Review scientific literature as needed to support laboratory activities and ongoing projects. Assist with drug testing studies evaluating the effects of compounds on human cells and tissues. Analyze experimental data and contribute to technical reports and study documentation. Support internal drug discovery and client-sponsored research programs. Gain opportunities to contribute to the development of new assays, methods, and products as skills and experience grow.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
