The Scale House Operator is responsible for accurately weighing incoming and outgoing trucks, recording weights and load information, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring that all transactions are processed efficiently and according to company procedures. This position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
Operate the truck scale and accurately record weights for incoming and outgoing vehicles. Verify truck, driver, load, and shipment information before processing transactions. Enter weight and load information accurately into the computer system. Prepare and maintain scale tickets, receipts, bills of lading, and other required documentation. Verify that loads are properly documented and match the information provided. Communicate with truck drivers, vendors, customers, production employees, and management as needed. Monitor truck traffic entering and leaving the facility and ensure proper procedures are followed. Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and timely. Identify discrepancies in weights, paperwork, loads, or other information and report them to management. Maintain organized records and documentation for auditing and reporting purposes. Answer telephone calls and assist drivers and visitors with questions. Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety, security, traffic flow, and documentation. Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information. Keep the scale house clean, organized, and professional. Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods. Ability to walk throughout the facility as needed. Ability to occasionally lift or move paperwork, supplies, or other items. Ability to work around trucks, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
