About the role

Director of Electrical Engineering / Senior Electrical Design EngineerDesign-Build Electrical ConstructionWe are seeking a senior electrical engineering leader to own and lead the engineering function for a large, design-build electrical contractor. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for taking complex electrical projects from concept and preconstruction through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and turnover. This person will serve as the company's technical authority for electrical engineering while working directly with estimating, VDC/BIM, project management, field operations, customers, utilities, and outside design partners.Key Performance OutcomesOwn Electrical Engineering: Lead electrical design and engineering across the company, establishing standards, processes, quality controls, and technical direction.Drive Design-Build Delivery: Take projects from conceptual design through permit/construction documents while balancing code compliance, constructability, cost, schedule, and customer requirements.Design Complex Power Systems: Lead engineering of medium- and low-voltage distribution, emergency/standby power, generators, UPS systems, grounding, lighting, controls, and associated electrical infrastructure.Deliver Accurate Engineering: Produce and oversee single-lines, equipment layouts, specifications, calculations, studies, feeder routing, equipment selection, and construction documentation.Optimize Before Construction: Partner with estimating, operations, prefab and VDC/BIM to identify value-engineering opportunities and ensure designs can be efficiently procured, prefabricated, installed, tested, and commissioned.Support the Field: Provide decisive technical leadership during construction, resolving RFIs, design conflicts, equipment issues, coordination challenges, and field conditions without delaying the project.Lead Power-System Analysis: Oversee short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, load-flow and other required electrical studies using platforms such as ETAP, SKM or equivalent.Build the Engineering Function: Develop internal engineering capabilities, mentor engineers and designers, and create scalable standards that support company growth. What Success Looks LikeEngineering becomes a competitive advantage for the contractor — designs are technically sound, constructible and cost-effective; field teams receive information when they need it; change and rework are reduced; and engineering helps the company win and successfully execute larger, more complex design-build projects.Ideal Background10+ years of electrical engineering/design experience with significant design-build or electrical construction exposure.Strong knowledge of commercial, industrial and/or mission-critical electrical systems.Proven ability to lead electrical design from concept through construction and commissioning.Deep understanding of NEC/NFPA requirements and electrical power-system design.Strong Revit/AutoCAD and electrical analysis software experience.Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.Comfortable operating as both a senior technical leader and hands-on engineer. This is an opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional consulting engineering role. The successful candidate will have direct influence over how projects are designed, priced, built and delivered in the field.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
