About the role
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips; report shortages, damages, and backorders.
- Label, organize, and store plumbing parts, fittings, fixtures, pipe, and equipment so every item has a defined location.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts; perform regular cycle counts and assist with periodic full physical inventories.
- Enter receipts, transfers, and adjustments in the inventory system and reconcile discrepancies promptly.
- Monitor stock levels and maintain min. / max. levels of inventory
- Restock service vehicles to established truck stock lists so technicians start each day fully equipped.
- Pull, stage, and package special-order parts and materials for scheduled jobs.
- Issue and track tools and equipment (drain machines, jetters, cameras, locators, specialty tools), and log check-out and return.
- Process returns from technicians, including unused materials, warranty parts, and defective items; manage vendor returns and core credits.
- Pick up parts and materials from local supply houses as needed, using a company vehicle.
- Schedule preventive maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, inspections) and track service intervals for each vehicle.
- Coordinate repairs with vendors and shops, and arrange drop-off, pickup, and loaner or spare vehicles to minimize technician downtime.
- Review vehicle inspection checklists from technicians and follow up on reported issues.
- Report vehicle condition and maintenance status to the Service Manager.
- Keep the warehouse, shelving, and loading areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Operate material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks safely.
- Store and handle chemicals, gas fittings, and other regulated materials per safety data sheets and company policy.
- Assist with basic equipment cleaning and readiness checks before tools are reissued.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to maintain inventory logs, prepare reports, and communicate with vendors and staff.
- Track usage trends and help identify slow-moving, overstocked, or frequently short items.
- Support month-end inventory reporting and audits.
