Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Aerospace Cybersecurity Engineer to lead cybersecurity activities for aerospace and defense programs. This role will focus on threat modeling, risk assessments, security architecture, embedded and hardware security, cybersecurity testing, compliance, and secure development practices. The engineer will work closely with aerospace engineering teams, customers, federal contractors, and internal cybersecurity teams to protect embedded systems, controllers, avionics, and aircraft platforms.
Key Responsibilities: Lead cybersecurity activities for aerospace and avionics programs. Perform threat modeling, cybersecurity risk assessments, and security architecture reviews. Support secure software and firmware development activities. Apply security practices involving secure boot, cryptography, code signing, and secure firmware updates. Conduct cybersecurity testing, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing. Define and implement cybersecurity measures for embedded systems, controllers, avionics, and aircraft platforms. Support compliance with aerospace, defense, and federal cybersecurity requirements. Review customer cybersecurity requirements, RFIs, and RFQs. Support proposal development and cybersecurity technical documentation. Interface with customers, federal contractors, and internal engineering teams. Support laboratory-based cybersecurity testing and assessments. Participate in occasional onsite assessments at customer and aircraft locations.
Required Qualifications & Skills: Senior-level experience in aerospace cybersecurity, avionics cybersecurity, or defense cybersecurity. Strong experience with embedded and hardware cybersecurity. Experience performing threat modeling and cybersecurity risk assessments. Experience with security architecture reviews. Strong understanding of Secure Boot, cryptography, code signing, and secure firmware updates. Experience with vulnerability assessments and penetration testing. Experience securing embedded systems, controllers, avionics, or aircraft platforms. Knowledge of aerospace and federal cybersecurity compliance requirements. Experience working with customers, federal contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams. Experience supporting RFIs, RFQs, and proposal development is preferred. Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is preferred. Ability to work onsite in Pittsburgh, PA.
