Residential Construction Assistant Manager The Residential Construction Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day execution of residential solar installations, including crew coordination, schedule readiness, field productivity, installation quality, safety, and project completion. Reporting to the Solar Operations Senior Manager this position serves as the primary operational leader for residential field installation teams. The Assistant Manager ensures crews are prepared to execute each project safely, efficiently, and correctly while proactively identifying and resolving issues that could impact schedule, quality, cost, or customer experience. This is a hands-on field leadership position requiring strong organization, technical solar knowledge, accountability, and the ability to lead multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
Requirements: Manage daily residential installation operations and field execution. Coordinate installation crews, crew assignments, project schedules, and field resources. Review upcoming projects to confirm construction readiness before crews are dispatched. Verify required materials, equipment, engineering documentation, permits, site information, and special installation requirements are identified before installation. Conduct daily coordination with installation crews regarding project scope, expectations, site conditions, and potential challenges. Monitor crew productivity and installation progress throughout the day. Respond quickly to field issues and remove obstacles that could prevent project completion. Maintain strong installation quality and workmanship standards. Conduct field inspections and quality-control reviews as required. Ensure installation deficiencies and punch-list items are corrected promptly. Minimize failed inspections, callbacks, return trips, and avoidable service issues. Ensure crews properly document completed work, photographs, system information, material usage, and outstanding items. Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement/Warehouse, and Service when field conditions require additional support. Ensure completed projects are properly transitioned to inspection, commissioning, PTO, or the next operational stage. Maintain compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, electrical/building codes, manufacturer requirements, and company installation standards. Coach and develop Lead Installers and field personnel. Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and disciplinary processes. Identify training needs and recurring workmanship or productivity issues. Assist the Senior Manager with workforce planning, crew capacity, subcontractor utilization, and operational forecasting. Escalate significant safety, customer, technical, staffing, or schedule issues to the Senior Manager promptly.
