About the role

The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake County, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. The Archdiocese, pastored by Cardinal Blase J. Cupich, has more than 13,000 employees in its systems and ministries, including Catholic Charities, the region's largest nonprofit social service agency. The Archdiocese also has one of the country's largest seminaries. The Archdiocese's 150+ elementary and secondary schools comprise one of the largest U.S. private school systems. Its schools have received 96 U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon Awards. Saint George is a lively, loving community of faith in the Southwest Suburbs of Chicago. The Director of Liturgy at Saint George (part-time) must be a person of faith, finding meaning and joy in a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve His People. The nature of the position demands personal presence and a generous heart. The job description is wide-ranging and fluid. The Director of Liturgy works closely with the pastor, clergy and other staff members. The Director is under the direct supervision of the Pastor. Virtus compliance is mandatory.
Responsibilities: Liturgy Coordinator will establish, educate and organize a group of parishioners to create meaningful liturgical celebrations, including Sunday Masses, parish reconciliation services, etc. This ministry is done in collaboration with priests, deacons and the Director of Music. Regular contact with ministry coordinators (e.g., Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Agape Ministers, altar servers) and richer formation of the Art and Environment Team are required. Familiarity with Liturgical Norms is essential. Creativity and a rich sense of God’s presence in the liturgy generate lively and loving liturgies. A warm and welcoming atmosphere permeates our liturgical experience. The Archdiocese of Chicago offers a comprehensive total rewards package to include competitive compensation and benefit programs. Information about our benefit programs is available here. This position has an annualized salary range of $20,000 - $25,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
