About the role
- Months 1–3: Approval priorities
- Secure clinical affiliation agreements for medical-surgical, maternal-child, mental health, and community rotations, starting with letters of intent
- Develop the clinical education plan and clinical rotation matrix, including use of NYSED's simulation provision (up to one-third of clinical hours)
- Write the clinical and faculty sections of the School's responses to NYSED, and support the external program evaluation
- Months 4–6: Readiness
- Complete any remaining clinical affiliation agreements
- Specify and source skills and simulation laboratory equipment, including cost-effective refurbished options, within the School's budget, and advise on the lab's layout and build-out
- Build and vet a pool of part-time didactic, laboratory, and clinical faculty
- Design the NCLEX-RN success plan: standardized testing, remediation, and outcome benchmarks
- Review and develop the clinical compliance policies and student clinical handbook (health clearance, immunizations, background checks, drug screening)
- After approval: Full-time Program Director (Chief Academic Officer)
- Serve as the program's academic leader and represent academics on the Advisory Board
- Oversee curriculum development and implementation, program review, and quality improvement
- Teach one course per semester in the BSN program
- Hire and supervise faculty
- Monitor student learning outcomes, conduct 8-week progression reviews, and develop improvement plans
- Provide student advising, oversee academic support services, and coordinate interventions
- Manage clinical operations and ensure accreditation compliance, including NLN CNEA accreditation
- Recruit Advisory Board members, including nursing leaders from clinical partners
- Establish articulation agreements with 2–3 NYC community colleges for the prerequisite sequence
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution
- Current, unencumbered RN license in New York, or eligibility for New York licensure
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing education
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory and academic administrative experience (such as Director, Assistant Director, or Chair)
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and academic administration
- Experience with accreditation preparation and regulatory compliance processes
- Active professional relationships with clinical leadership (CNOs, nursing education directors, or clinical coordinators) at NYC-area healthcare facilities
- Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD)
- Experience with NYSED new program registration or a new program or campus launch
- Experience setting up or running a simulation labCNE or CHSE certification
