Role Description: The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, contact lens evaluations, and assessment of ocular health for patients of all ages. Daily responsibilities include diagnosing and managing common ocular conditions, co-managing surgical patients with ophthalmologists, and educating patients about eye health, treatment options, and preventive care. The Optometrist will document findings accurately in the electronic health record, write prescriptions, and coordinate care with other providers when appropriate. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Florence, MA, requiring consistent in-person collaboration with clinical and administrative staff. The Optometrist will also participate in practice protocols, quality improvement efforts, and occasional staff meetings or training sessions.
Qualifications: Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program and current (or eligibility for) licensure to practice optometry in Massachusetts. Clinical proficiency in comprehensive eye exams, refraction, contact lens fitting, and management of common ocular diseases (e.g., glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye).Experience or comfort with electronic health records, diagnostic imaging, and modern optometric equipment. Strong communication and patient education skills, with the ability to explain diagnoses and treatment plans clearly and compassionately. Ability to work collaboratively with ophthalmologists, technicians, and administrative staff in a fast-paced clinical setting. Demonstrated commitment to equitable, inclusive, and non-discriminatory patient care. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage a steady volume of patients while maintaining high standards of care. Prior experience in a medical or surgical eye care practice is preferred but not required; new graduates are welcome to apply.
