About the role
- The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body.
- The successful candidates will be in an unified division providing teaching and training of medical students, residents, and fellows in our educational programs as well as clinical research, translational research and/or basic research.
- The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

- Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
- As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Additional information can be found here: Health Sciences Compensation Plan (APM-671)

- Candidates must have a current research program in a health related discipline and at least one year of productivity.
- Candidates with a minimum of one year of research experience in Ophthalmology are preferred.
