About the Role: VP of Sales East – Interventional Cardiology Start-up
Location: East Coast, USAWe are seeking an accomplished Vice President of Sales to lead commercial strategy and execution for a high-growth start-up in the interventional cardiology sector, specializing in Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO) therapies. This executive will be responsible for building and scaling a high-performance sales organization, driving adoption of innovative medical device solutions, and establishing the company as a leader in the LAAO space.
Responsibilities: Develop and execute strategic and operational sales plans to achieve aggressive revenue and market share targets within the LAAO segment. Build, lead, and mentor a national sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and professional development. Identify, recruit, and develop key sales and clinical talent; design and implement effective training programs. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospital systems, and interventional cardiologists to drive product adoption. Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, clinical, R&D, and executive leadership to optimize go-to-market strategies and ensure alignment with overall business objectives. Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and evolving clinical needs to inform sales strategy and product positioning. Oversee sales forecasting, budgeting, and performance metrics; provide regular reporting to executive leadership. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies, maintaining the highest ethical standards in all sales activities. Represent the company at major industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings as a senior commercial leader.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or related) preferred.10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in the medical device industry, with a strong preference for interventional cardiology or structural heart backgrounds. Demonstrated success building and scaling sales teams in a start-up or high-growth environment. Deep understanding of the LAAO market, hospital sales cycles, and clinical drivers in interventional cardiology. Proven track record of achieving or exceeding aggressive revenue targets and driving new product adoption. Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. Willingness to travel extensively (50%+), as required for customer engagement and team leadership.
Required Skills: Progressive sales leadership experience in the medical device industry. Experience in interventional cardiology or structural heart. Ability to build and scale sales teams in a start-up or high-growth environment. Understanding of the LAAO market, hospital sales cycles, and clinical drivers in interventional cardiology. Ability to achieve or exceed aggressive revenue targets and drive new product adoption. Leadership, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. Willingness to travel extensively (50%+).
