About the role
Job Title Operator of Derrick or CraneDutiesServe as an operator of derrick or crane aboard a derrick or crane barge engaged in lock and dam maintenance and hoisting services. Responsible for exercising knowledge of the derrickboat's capacities and limitations, checking rigging, estimating loads and distance, etc. Complete daily, monthly, and quarterly equipment inspections and reports and submits same to supervisor in a timely manner. Exercise caution, apply strict safety standards to avoid accidents, and is responsible for the safety of crew members around the crane and hoisting areas. Maneuvers barge by using current and spuds, or by signaling pilot to maneuver the barge. Ensures barge is secured by use of lines and spuds.
