The Cost Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting of job costs throughout the construction process. This role supports Project Managers and the Controller by delivering timely and relevant financial information to aid in decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain organized and accurate job files to ensure cost data is accessible at all times.
Match and enter weekly labor costs for assigned jobs or work orders.
Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring they are matched to packing slips and purchase orders.
Enter approved invoices into the accounting system and ensure proper job costing.
Invoice jobs in coordination with Project Managers and assist with schedule of values.
Prepare and submit invoices with supporting documentation and obtain necessary lien releases.
Perform collection activities and follow up on outstanding payments.
Provide reports and documentation as requested by Project Managers, the Controller, or company officers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in construction or project-based environments.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
