Position Summary: Dynamic Specialty, Inc. is seeking an experienced, technology-forward Underwriting Assistant Manager to serve as the primary backup to the Underwriting Manager and help lead the day-to-day operations of the underwriting department. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands underwriting, enjoys solving problems, and is comfortable working across underwriting, carrier relationships, operations, and technology. The Underwriting Assistant Manager will support and mentor underwriting staff, assist with escalations and risk decisions, help launch new insurance programs and carrier relationships, and partner closely with the software development team to improve underwriting systems and processes. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a growing MGA where underwriting and technology work together, with a direct impact on how programs are built, how the underwriting team operates, and how systems and processes continue to improve. Essential Duties /
Responsibilities: Serve as the primary backup to the Underwriting Manager and step into leadership responsibilities when needed. Support and mentor underwriting staff while ensuring carrier guidelines and underwriting standards are consistently followed. Assist with underwriting escalations, risk decisions, workflow management, and department priorities. Work directly with carriers, brokers, and internal teams on programs, guidelines, and operational needs. Help launch and implement new insurance programs and carrier relationships. Work closely with the software development team to improve underwriting technology and processes. Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), system testing, configuration, and troubleshooting of new features and underwriting functionality. Identify opportunities to improve automation, efficiency, and the overall underwriting experience. Help monitor underwriting performance, profitability, submission flow, and operational issues. Assist with training and developing members of the underwriting team.
Minimum Qualifications
Required: Minimum of 2 years of insurance underwriting experience. Active 220 General Lines License Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines and risk evaluation. Leadership experience or a demonstrated ability to take on management responsibilities. Experience with underwriting software, system configuration, or process automation. Comfortable working directly with software developers and participating in UAT and system testing. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred: Underwriting experience in a Managing General Agency (MGA), specialty, commercial lines, or transportation insurance environment. Experience launching or implementing new insurance programs or carrier relationships. Physical Demands and
Work Environment: Continually required to sit for extended periods The noise level is moderate and typical of a busy office environment. Required on site- this is not a remote eligible position. Office-based with standard business hours.
