Location: Washington, DC — 100% Onsite, 5 days/week

Start Date: November 9, 2026
Duration: 6 months with potential extension
Pay Rate: Up to $40/hr W2 or $47/hr 1099

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Tier II Deskside Support Technician to provide hands-on technical support in a Windows-based environment supporting the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC.This position requires someone who can diagnose and resolve real hardware, operating system, driver, and software issues directly at the user's desk, rather than simply replacing equipment or escalating problems. The ideal candidate will have strong Windows troubleshooting skills, experience working with enterprise ticketing systems, and excellent customer service and communication skills. The technician will interact with DOJ personnel, including senior leaders and VIP users, so professionalism and the ability to communicate technical issues clearly are essential.
Key Responsibilities: Provide Tier II deskside technical support for Windows desktops, laptops, peripherals, and related hardware. Diagnose and resolve Windows operating system, hardware, software, driver, disk, memory, and performance issues. Troubleshoot complex workstation problems using appropriate diagnostic methods rather than relying primarily on hardware replacement. Investigate Windows crashes and BSOD issues using error codes, Safe Mode, driver troubleshooting, disk diagnostics, memory testing, and other appropriate techniques. Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop hardware and software. Provide direct, in-person support to end users in an enterprise office environment. Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and escalations using an enterprise ticketing system. Work with systems such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or similar ITSM platforms. Provide professional technical support to executives, senior leadership, and other high-profile users when required. Escalate issues appropriately while maintaining ownership of the user's technical problem through resolution. Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism in a DOJ environment.
Required Qualifications: Active Public Trust clearance from a U.S. government agency. The clearance must be active and verifiable.5+ years of relevant IT support experience. Proven Tier II deskside/desktop support experience in a Windows enterprise environment. Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills with Windows desktops and laptops. Experience diagnosing operating system, hardware, driver, disk, memory, and application-related problems. Experience using an enterprise ticketing/ITSM system, such as ServiceNow or Remedy. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work professionally with senior-level and executive users. High school diploma or equivalent at minimum. Ability and willingness to work onsite in Washington, DC, five days per week.
Preferred Qualifications: Active Secret clearance. Previous experience supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).Previous VIP or executive-level technical support experience. Experience supporting users in federal government environments.
Important Considerations: This is a true hands-on deskside support position, not a remote help desk or phone-support role. Candidates should be comfortable performing detailed technical troubleshooting at the workstation level rather than primarily swapping out computers when problems occur. The position is 100% onsite and is best suited for candidates specifically interested in an onsite schedule rather than remote work.
