About the role

Overview In this role you lead end-to-end North American payroll operations for Canada and the U.S. within a large, complex organization. You partner with and oversee third-party payroll vendors, driving process improvements and ensuring accurate, timely payroll delivery. You act as a payroll SME, influencing senior stakeholders and guiding cross-functional projects to enhance compliance, governance, and employee experience. You join a team dedicated to operational excellence and strategic payroll initiatives that support the enterprise. Compensation / Benefitshealth insurancetuition reimbursementaccident and life insuranceretirement savings plansdiscretionary bonusesother perks and rewards Responsibilities Execute day-to-day payroll operations and program management to ensure accurate, timely pay across Canada and the U.S.Oversee and partner with third-party payroll vendors, managing relationships and driving process improvements Serve as subject matter expert on payroll platforms, regulations, and procedures Lead cross-functional projects and strategic payroll initiatives aligned with organizational goals Develop and deliver dashboards and reports; monitor performance and address issues Lead change management activities and communication strategies to influence stakeholder behaviour Provide governance design and program design support for payroll operations enterprise-wide Analyze data and market trends to inform decision-making and mitigate risk Support year-end processes, reconciliations, escalations, and other payroll contingencies Foster talent development, coach teams, and manage performance within the payroll function Key requirements 7+ years of payroll and people leadership experience Deep knowledge of North American payroll legislation, compliance, and governance Experience managing vendor relationships and payroll programs Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects Strong data-driven decision-making and analytical skills Post-secondary degree in related field or equivalent experienceCPP/PCP/PP required; PLP strongly preferred; American Payroll Association nice to have Verbal and written communication skills; problem solving and collaboration skills Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguitystrong collaboration and teamworkinfluence and negotiationcommunication excellencepayroll program and operations managementregulatory compliance knowledge (Canada/US)data analysis and reporting
