SALARY
$100–$200 per hour
About the role
• $100–$200 per hour• 100% remote• Part-time• 5 to 10 or more hours a week, you choose when Work on the cutting edge of AI physics reasoning, on your own schedule, and get paid for the research expertise you already have. The AI systems everyone is talking about are trained and tested by real physicists. The teams building them need experts who can work through realistic, difficult physics problems, judge how well an AI handles them, write the solution a physicist would give, and explain exactly where the reasoning falls short. Your judgment becomes part of how the next generation of AI models reasons about advanced science. This is that work, done remotely around your current research or job.
What you'll do:
• Solve difficult theoretical physics problems involving statistical physics and quantum information• Audit and adjudicate solutions involving duality and quenched disorder averaging• Write clear, documented expert solutions for problems involving Potts model simulations and domain-wall free energy• Explain where a solution goes wrong, including issues with loop defects and topological quantum codes Why this is worth your time• Get paid $100–$200 an hour to build real AI skills, on top of your current job• Work directly with frontier AI tools and see how they are built, tested and improved, experience most physicists will not have for years• Build a career edge for what comes next: AI is reshaping physics research, and the people who understand it from the inside will lead that change• Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute Who this is for• A PhD or equivalent experience in physics, specializing in statistical physics, quantum information or condensed matter theory• Hands-on research experience with methods such as Kramers-Wannier duality, quenched disorder averaging, square-lattice self-duality, 4-state Potts model simulations, domain-wall free energy or topological quantum codes• Fluency in English• No AI experience needed. You bring the expertise; we bring the training on the tools. Pay and details• $100–$200 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor• 5 to 10 or more hours a week, you choose when; fully remote, United States How to apply 1. Apply on Open Train (about two minutes; upload your resume).2. Complete a short application on the hiring platform.3. If shortlisted, take a short AI interview. Most people hear back within days. Ready to put your physics expertise to work at the frontier of AI? Apply today. About Open Train AIOpen Train AI connects experienced professionals with paid, part-time AI training work: shaping and improving the AI systems that companies are building right now.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
