About the role
Role You Will Play: In this role, you will lead the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced building materials distribution operation, with responsibility for warehouse, logistics, transportation, inventory, safety, and team performance. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, developing people, improving processes, and creating greater structure and accountability. Day in the Life: Lead daily warehouse, distribution, transportation, and inventory operations Manage and develop supervisors, warehouse employees, and drivers Drive improvements in productivity, workflow, quality, and efficiency Establish strong processes, procedures, and accountability throughout the operation Track operational KPIs and utilize reporting tools to identify areas for improvement Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence Partner with sales and branch leadership to support customer service and business objectives Coach and develop employees while building a strong operational culture Remain highly visible and willing to jump in alongside the team when needed Maintain flexibility around scheduling based on the needs of the operation Background Profile: Operations leadership experience within building materials, lumber, wholesale distribution, construction products, or a related industry Strong warehouse, distribution, logistics, and/or transportation experience Proven experience leading and developing teams Strong process improvement and KPI management skills Comfortable utilizing operational systems, Excel, and reporting tools Transportation and DOT knowledge is a plus Hands-on, accountable leadership style Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced distribution environment
