About the role

Rails Developer Opportunity Barbershop Labs is hiring a full time, and a part-time (10-20hrs/week) Rails developer. The ideal candidates have:3+ years of Rails development experience. Experience building consumer-facing web applications. Comfort working across the entire stack. Unquenchable thirst for learning new things. We are a small Rails & mobile development shop based in Framingham, MA. I founded the company last September after spending 15+ years leading engineering and product development teams for a variety of startups. We pay well, work hard, build great software, avoid bureaucracy, and have a lot of fun in the process. Please send an intro email containing your LinkedIn, Github, and any other relevant URLs to jobs@barbershoplabs.com. No attached resumes, please. Principals only, no recruiters.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
