Senior Design Engineer – High Frequency Magnetics We are seeking a skilled and innovative Design Engineer specializing in High Frequency Magnetics to join our engineering team. This role focuses on the design and development of custom magnetic solutions for power conversion systems, with an emphasis on performance, safety, and manufacturability.
About the Role: The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in ferrite and powdered core technologies, along with a strong grasp of industry safety standards and electromagnetic simulation tools.
Responsibilities: Design and develop high-frequency magnetic components (transformers, inductors, chokes) for power electronics applications Work with a range of core materials including ferrite, Sendust, powdered iron, nanocrystalline, and amorphous Design experience using various magnetic construction methods including bobbin-wound, toroidal, and planar formats Optimize magnetic designs for efficiency, thermal performance, and manufacturability Perform simulations and modeling using tools such as ANSYS Maxwell or equivalent Ensure designs meet UL, IEC, and other international safety and performance standards Collaborate with cross-functional teams addressing electrical, mechanical, and compliance issues Produce detailed design documentation, including technical specifications, test plans, BOM, BOL, and compliance records
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred Minimum 5 years of experience in magnetic component design for power electronics Strong knowledge of magnetic materials, core losses, winding techniques, and insulation systems Proficient in electromagnetic modeling and FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS Maxwell) Familiar with UL 1446, IEC 61558, and other relevant safety standards Experience with thermal management practices in magnetic design Hands‑on experience with prototype testing and validation Proficiency in Inventor or other 3D modeling Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills
