About the role
- Own client relationships and expectations
- Understand each client's key business questions Manage scope, audience, timing, and deliverable format, from kickoff through completion
- Anticipate client needs and act on them before the client asks (as much as possible)
- Resolve day-to-day issues across delivery, communication, staffing, and client concerns quickly, and reset expectations openly when timelines or the landscape change
- Keep leadership informed through updates rather than escalations, so clients feel exceptionally well supported without reactive demands on leadership
- Communicate complex science with clarity
- Exchange complex medical and scientific information with physicians, scientists, and C-suite executives accurately and with confidence
- Distill data into client-ready reports where the implication comes before the detail, and present them directly to clients
- Adjust depth and language to each audience, building an understanding for the reader in an easy-to-grasp, clear and concise style Turn information into intelligence
- Build a thorough understanding of new disease states, competitive landscapes, market dynamics, and global regulatory and commercialization pathways quickly
- Monitor emerging data continuously, flag impactful events, and identify gaps in what clients know
- Triangulate across complex sources to develop defensible takeaways, each mapped clearly to primary sources
- Lead every deliverable to a clear recommendation, and respectfully challenge key decision makers when the evidence calls for itRun engagements like a boss
- Keep a work plan for each engagement with milestones, owners, and review dates, and reprioritize as timelines shift
- Run projects in a best-in-class manner: proactive, communicative, and efficient
- Hold every deliverable to a high standard of accuracy, with a documented quality check before release
- Follow all external and internal standards for legal and ethical intelligence gathering, and raise any gray area before acting
- Grow our projects and our people
- Think ahead to each client's next question and bring follow-on opportunities to leadership
- Contribute to project scoping and proposals, and define and track metrics of success for each engagement
- Mentor and develop the team members on your engagements using our established mentoring processes
- Skills and Experience
- PhD in the life sciences4 to 8 years minimum in life sciences consulting or in market planning at a biotech or pharma company, including prior experience owning client relationships and deliverables
- Ability to interpret and synthesize preclinical and clinical data and identify broad implications or specific opportunities
- Excellent written and oral communication, including presenting complex scientific information to physicians, scientists, and executives
- Demonstrated experience respectfully challenging senior decision makers with evidence
- Solid project management skills: you prioritize workflows, adapt to evolving timelines, and meet deadlines with high attention to detail
- Experience mentoring or developing junior team members, and the ability to describe specifically how you helped someone grow
- A self-directed learner with a growth mindset, intellectual agility, and resilience
- Ability to work remotely on US Eastern hours, starting around 6:30 am Pacific
- Authorized to work in the USA.
- Competitive intelligence or new product planning experience in oncology
- Experience gathering primary intelligence from physicians and key opinion leaders
- Familiarity with ex-US regulatory and commercialization pathways
- Experience contributing to proposals, scoping, or account growth at a consultancy
- Experience at a boutique or growing firm where you helped build processes rather than inherited them
- Experience working at or with Pharma Companies
- Fluency with AI-assisted research and analysis tools
