Metric is partnered with a rapidly growing engineering organization developing and deploying complex equipment for large-scale infrastructure projects across the US.The company is expanding its engineering team as it brings more product development, testing, and system integration capabilities in-house.
About the Role:
This Controls Engineer role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience developing, testing, and commissioning control systems for complex equipment. You’ll work across the full controls lifecycle, from initial development and validation through commissioning and production deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop control logic, sequencing, alarms, interlocks, and fault handling. Design and validate controls for new equipment and test systems. Tune control loops and troubleshoot equipment during commissioning. Perform controls testing and system-level validation. Integrate controls with sensors, actuators, motors, drives, and instrumentation. Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams. Support equipment startup, commissioning, and deployment. Troubleshoot complex controls and equipment issues in both development and production environments.
Qualifications:
Controls engineering experience within industrial equipment, automation, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, energy, HVAC, robotics, or a related environment. Hands-on experience developing and commissioning controls on physical equipment. Strong understanding of machine controls, sequencing, interlocks, and feedback control. Experience working with PLCs, embedded controls, industrial controls, or similar platforms. Experience with sensors, instrumentation, motors, drives, and other electromechanical systems. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines. Comfortable operating in a fast-paced product development environment. Must be based in or willing to commute to New York City. Comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
