Maintenance Technician
Job Summary: Fairport Rehab & Nursing Center, a 142-bed Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility with more than 100 years of experience, is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Day Shift team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility’s building systems, equipment, resident-care equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, comfortable, and functional environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This hands-on role performs preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, inspections, and general facility upkeep while responding promptly to maintenance needs in a skilled nursing environment.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, painting, appliances, and building repairs.
  • Maintain facility and medical equipment, including beds, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, and other resident-care equipment.
  • Respond to work orders, document completed work in the CMMS, and maintain required inspection and equipment records.
  • Perform minor repairs, installations, masonry, downspout, exterior building, and general facility repairs.
  • Provide basic support for computers, phones, TVs, internet, and other technology.
  • Maintain maintenance shops, garages, tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Perform cleaning, trash removal, restroom sanitation, window cleaning, and floor care.
  • Maintain grounds through lawn care, landscaping, flower beds, shrubs, sod replacement, walkway maintenance, and seasonal preparations.
  • Perform snow and ice removal, including plowing/blowing, salting, and on-call weather response.
  • Assist with event setups, resident newspaper delivery, building tours, funeral director coordination, and other departmental needs.
  • Work cooperatively with residents, families, staff, volunteers, and other departments.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and attractive campus while following all safety, compliance, infection-control, and training requirements.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency/on-call assignments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services or designee.
  • Compensation & Schedule$21.00 per hour
  • Full-time: 37.5 hours/week7:00AM-3:00 PM/ Day shift
  • Fairport, NYQualificationsExperience in facilities maintenance, skilled trades, environmental services, groundskeeping, or related work preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, repairs, landscaping, and equipment maintenance.
  • Basic computer troubleshooting skills preferred.
  • Ability to lift, move, and operate equipment and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to changing priorities and emergencies.
