About the role
An independent school is seeking an experienced Director of School Operations & Facilities to lead campus operations, including facilities, safety and security, auxiliary programs, and nursing services. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operating Officer, this leader will oversee teams, budgets, and capital projects while maintaining a safe, efficient, and welcoming campus.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead facilities, security, maintenance, custodial, grounds, and auxiliary operations. Manage capital projects, renovations, contractors, budgets, and regulatory compliance. Oversee campus safety, emergency preparedness, security systems, and staff training. Direct preventive maintenance, long-term facility planning, and sustainability initiatives. Oversee transportation, after-school and summer programs, and facility rentals. Manage operating budgets, vendor contracts, and staff development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field; equivalent experience considered. Minimum 7–9 years of progressively responsible facilities leadership experience, preferably in an educational or campus setting. Demonstrated experience managing capital projects, security operations, budgets, and contracted services. Working knowledge of building systems, construction practices, and applicable codes and regulations. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. CFM, FMP, LEED AP, or OSHA 30 credentials preferred. Availability for after-hours, weekend, and emergency response is required as operational needs arise.
