About the role
Job Description:
This job is posted on behalf of CLT Recruiters. AutoCAD Drafter Long Island, NY · Reports to the Director of Project Management · Full-time, hourly (non-exempt)
THE ROLE:
The AutoCAD Drafter produces the shop drawings, fabrication tickets, anchor details and related drawings the work actually gets built from. This is a shop drawing role, not a design role. You would join two full-time drafters and a flex resource who comes in for extra hands. The role carries the full drawing lifecycle — design interpretation, internal coordination, submittals, revisions, fabrication support and field verification — and independently owns assigned portions of the drafting workflow rather than waiting on direction. WHAT YOU WOULD OWNClear, complete and dimensionally accurate shop drawings produced in AutoCAD.Anchor details, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and fabrication tickets. Field dimensions in whatever form they arrive — hand sketches, marked-up drawings, photographs, notes, digital files— turned into something the shop can cut from. Verification of dimensions, relationships and interfaces between components, and review of finished drawings for accuracy and constructability. Constructability conflicts and missing information, identified before they reach fabrication or installation. Coordination with project managers, fabrication personnel and field teams on priorities and scope changes. Drawing logs, revision histories and drawing files, kept organized and current. Occasional jobsite visits to assist with field dimensions, layout and verification. ABOUT OUR CLIENTOur client is a Long Island architectural stone company working at the luxury end of the market. They fabricate and install cut-to-size natural stone — roughly 80% of it luxury retail, the balance high-end commercial and residential work. Projects run nationwide and the standard is exacting: brand standards, landlord and mall coordination, compressed schedules and off-hours work. Everything is produced in their own shop and installed by their own teams, which means the technical problems land in-house rather than getting passed to somebody else. WHAT OUR CLIENT IS LOOKING FORProficiency with AutoCAD, and the ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and RFIs. Experience in architectural stone, construction, fabrication or a related drafting environment is preferred. Comfort with geometry, dimensions, scale and the arithmetic that goes with them. Strong attention to detail. Drawings here go straight to fabrication, so accuracy carries directly into cost. The habit of following up on outstanding items rather than waiting passively. Working knowledge of Bluebeam is preferred, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A valid driver's license. Shared in confidence by CLT Recruiters LLC on behalf of our client, who is not named at this stage. Compensation is discussed directly with CLT Recruiters.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
