About the role
- Prospect for and develop new business within your territory and target industries, identifying manufacturers and facilities that are strong candidates for automated surface inspection.
- Build a pipeline through direct outreach, referrals, industry networking, trade shows, and targeted account development.
- Manage and grow existing customer relationships, spotting opportunities for new systems, upgrades, expansions, and additional production lines.
- Develop relationships with plant, engineering, quality, operations, and corporate decision-makers.
- Conduct plant visits and production-line evaluations to understand processes and inspection requirements — defect types, specs, line speeds, web widths, resolution, and quality objectives.
- Partner with Wintriss engineering, applications, service, and project teams to shape technically appropriate solutions.
- Present technical solutions and business value to engineering, quality, operations, purchasing, and executive stakeholders.
- Prepare, present, negotiate, and follow through on proposals, managing opportunities from prospecting through order.
- Maintain an accurate pipeline, activity history, and forecast.
- Represent Wintriss at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
- Track competitive technologies and emerging applications in automated surface inspection.
- Automated surface inspection or machine vision systems
- Industrial cameras, lighting, optics, or image-processing technology
- Industrial automation and controls
- Capital equipment or manufacturing process equipment
- Industrial quality-control or process-monitoring systems Direct experience with automated surface inspection systems is a strong plus, but not required for a candidate with strong industrial technical-sales and new-business-development experience. You'll also stand out with:
- A track record prospecting for, developing, and closing new accounts — building and running a pipeline independently rather than relying on inbound leads.
- Success growing existing accounts by uncovering additional applications across lines or facilities.
- Comfort with technically complex, longer sales cycles for engineered solutions.
- Ability to read specs, drawings, and layouts, and translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across technical and executive audiences.
- Working knowledge of industrial cameras, lighting, optics, controls, networking, PLCs, or automation systems.
- Self-motivated and organized, comfortable managing a territory independently across multiple simultaneous opportunities. MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCEExperience with continuous web, sheet, or coil manufacturing processes is especially valuable, including:
- Plastic film extrusion and converting
- Nonwovens
- Coating and laminating
- Battery separator and functional films
- Composites and prepregs
- Copper and aluminum foil
- Aluminum coil processing and coating
- Paper and paperboard
- Other continuous web, sheet, or coil-processing applicationsEDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Automation, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred but not required. Significant relevant industry experience — particularly in surface inspection, machine vision, industrial automation, capital equipment, or continuous-process manufacturing — may substitute for formal education.
- Competitive base salary
- Performance-based sales commission
- Company-paid business travel expenses and mileage reimbursement
- Cell phone and business technology support
- Health and other employee benefits
- Paid vacation and holidays
- Company retirement programs, where applicableWHY WINTRISS ENGINEERINGThis role puts you at the intersection of technology, manufacturing, and business development, selling sophisticated engineered systems that directly affect a manufacturer's product quality, yield, productivity, and profitability. You'll act as a technical resource and trusted advisor rather than simply an equipment vendor — walking the line with a process engineer one day, discussing defect-detection requirements with a quality manager, and presenting ROI to plant or corporate management the next. If you enjoy technology, manufacturing, prospecting, problem-solving, and customer interaction, this role offers the opportunity to build a territory, develop long-term customer relationships, and have a direct impact on both Wintriss Engineering's growth and your own earning potential.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
