About the role

Software Engineer II/ Sr. Software Engineer The AI Transformation team within Microsoft Frontier Company is reimagining how the company operates in the age of AI. We work across the business to transform critical end-to-end workflows, bringing people, AI agents, and systems together to create fundamentally new ways of working. Our team brings together engineering, applied AI, program leadership, and business transformation to move rapidly from opportunity to working solution. We operate with a builder mindset: hands-on, highly collaborative, comfortable with ambiguity, and biased toward action. Our goal is not simply to add AI to existing processes, but to build AI-native operating models and reusable solutions that improve how Microsoft Frontier Company works and accelerate transformation at scale. As a Software Engineer II/ Sr. Software Engineer, you will bring strong software design and engineering expertise to build AI-powered solutions that transform how Microsoft Frontier Company operates. You'll work in small, multidisciplinary teams to rapidly move from prototype to production, using AI and agentic coding tools to build reliable applications, agents, integrations, and workflows that deliver measurable operational impact. Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities: Design, build, test, deploy, and operate production-grade AI-powered applications, agents, services, integrations, and workflows that transform how Microsoft Frontier Company operates. Rapidly move from requirements and ideas to working solutions, prototyping and iterating based on real-world feedback while maintaining high standards for reliability, performance, and maintainability. Use AI-assisted and agentic coding tools throughout the software development lifecycle to accelerate development, testing, debugging, experimentation, and delivery. Translate business and operational requirements into practical technical designs and scalable implementations, working closely with engineers, applied scientists, TPMs, designers, and operational teams. Apply strong software engineering practices including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, documentation, and operational readiness. Build reusable components, accelerators, and engineering patterns that enable successful solutions to scale across teams and transformation scenarios. Learn and adapt quickly in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, experimenting with emerging AI technologies and continuously improving solutions based on measurable outcomes. Apply a security-first mindset and incorporate privacy, Responsible AI, compliance, and Microsoft engineering requirements throughout design and delivery.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
