Work Environment: Primarily on-site in an office environment with occasional remote work. Frequent use of test lab where adherence to lab safety is required. POSITION SUMMARY: The New Product Development (NPD) Engineer supports TruBlue Technologies' plan to successfully launch New Product Initiatives. Their work ensures that the New Product Initiative meets all specifications, certification, and other requirements as defined by the NPD process and that the project remains on schedule and budget. The NPD Engineer creates, completes, and/or manages Component/Assembly Design Iterations, Technical Drawing Releases/Updates, Bills of Materials, First Article Inspections, Verification Testing Regimens, Test Reports, GD&T Strategy, and other tasks defined by the NPD process. This position works within the cross-functional New Product Development Team and reports to the Product Engineering Manager. The NPD Engineer position requires a self-starter with at least 5 years of experience developing products from concept through production and aftermarket support. Experience in the climbing industry and working with overseas vendors, 3rd party contractors, compliance regulations, and/or developing consumer products for the EU market is a plus. Working knowledge of material and treatment properties/selection, designing and testing mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing processes including metal forging, plastic injection molding, and CNC machining is required. The position requires hands-on testing and evaluation of components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes. The ability to independently, efficiently, and creatively solve problems and manage multiple component schedules will be beneficial to this position. This is a Full Time position reporting to the Product Engineering Manager, based in our Louisville, CO headquarters. The ability to reliably commute is required. Relocation assistance will not be offered for this position. ESSENTIAL NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESObjective/Measurement – Completion of assigned tasks within designated timeframe, established within annual action planning processes. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude with a broad range of engineering fundamentals and the ability to navigate the stages of the New Product Development process, with guidance from senior engineering staff on more complex initiatives. Climbing and/or work at height experience is a plus.· Design, develop, and test mechanical components and assemblies for New Product Initiatives, including generation of 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, schematics, process flow diagrams, test reports, etc.· Create/Maintain/Manage documention following established processes· Support project execution per the NPD schedule· Collaborate with the cross-functional NPD Team to help evaluate design and process decisions related to the New Product Initiative· Perform First Article Inspections, recommend design/process changes, and support vendor capability development· Work with Supply Chain to procure prototype/sample/production components and support vendor relationships· Perform or assist in organizing Verification Testing of New Product samples· Support development of the Manufacturing Plan for in-house assembly and qualification testing· Complete testing and documentation to obtain CE Certification and/or meet other regulatory requirements· Develop customer facing documentation including Operator Manuals, Service Manuals, and Troubleshooting Guides· Occasional travel to vendors and/or end user locations for on-site validation testing The above listed essential duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general requirements for the performance of this job. QUALIFICATIONS: ·
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or in a related engineering discipline· At least 5 years of experience in a Product Engineering role.
