About the role

Description: As a Perception Engineer III, you are responsible for leading the design and development of advanced perception algorithms and sensor integration solutions that drive the performance of clients autonomous vehicle platforms. You operate with a high degree of autonomy, own complex technical processes, and actively mentor junior engineers on the Perception team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the design, development, and deployment of perception algorithms for LiDAR, radar, camera, and sensor fusion applications across clients autonomous platforms. Architect real-time C++ processing pipelines for object detection, classification, tracking, and sensor fusion in embedded environments. Define sensor selection criteria, integration standards, and validation processes for new and existing perception systems. Drive resolution of complex or non-standard perception failures through root cause analysis and algorithm refinement. Collaborate cross-functionally with planning, controls, and systems engineers to align perception outputs with broader autonomy architecture. Deploy and configure perception systems at customer sites, providing technical leadership during integration. Mentor Perception Engineers I and II, conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance. Document system architecture, algorithm design decisions, and lessons learned to build team knowledge. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 4–7 years of experience developing perception systems for autonomous vehicles or robotics platforms. Expert proficiency in C++ (C++11 or newer) with demonstrated experience building production-grade, multithreaded Linux applications. Proven experience with at least two of the following: LiDAR point cloud processing, automotive radar processing, image processing for object recognition, or sensor fusion and object tracking. Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS or ROS2) and DDS or publish-subscribe messaging architectures. Strong understanding of machine learning and AI techniques deployed in embedded C++ environments. Proficiency in Python 3 or MATLAB for prototyping and analysis. Advanced knowledge of linear algebra, probabilistic estimation, and coordinate transformations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation constantly throughout the workday. Ability to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. Ability to effectively complete job responsibilities on computer monitors. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through other electronic means. Able to traverse an office environment.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
