About the role
Die MakerThe Die Maker is responsible for studying blueprints and prototypes, machining die components, assembling dies, and ensuring their functionality through precise adjustments and inspections. This role requires a strong understanding of machining techniques, shop mathematics, and the properties of sheet metal under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
Study blueprints of products and dies, as well as prototypes and die models.
Visualize the structure and function of dies and plan operations, applying knowledge of shop mathematics, machining, and assembly methods.
Measure, mark, and scribe tools and stock for machining.
Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts to specifications.
Verify machined parts against specifications for accuracy.
Lift machined parts manually or using a hoist and position them on worktables for assembly.
Shape, smooth, and fit flat and contoured surfaces of die members and parts using hand tools (e.g., stones, files, and powered grinders).Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of die members and parts using tools like dial indicators, gage blocks, thickness gages, and micrometers.
Dowels and bolt parts together using hand tools (e.g., hammers and wrenches).Operate power presses, perform final adjustments and refinement operations on dies in press, and inspect piece part products to complete tryouts for Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR).Exercise judgment to manufacture components and dies efficiently and in a timely manner.

Familiarity with manufacturing environments. Strong foundation in shop math (geometry, algebra, and trigonometry).Computer drafting skills. Engineering problem-solving abilities. Knowledge of GD&T.Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards. Understanding of materials and mechanical drafting. Experience in tooling design.

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
