Physician - Pulmonary & Critical Care Intensivist (EDRP Authorized)

Job TitlePhysicianJob DescriptionPhysicians will engage in management of patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) and consultation services, as well as supervision of residents and fellows. They will be expected to participate in equitable call coverage on a rotating basis with other critical care attendings.Perform highly responsible duties in the advanced examination, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with medical and surgical diseases.Evaluate and assimilate input from all sources to develop an appropriate treatment plan.Perform critical care procedures as credentialed.Initiate and manage respiratory support as clinically indicated.Serve as the subject matter expert/consultant for the field of Critical Care and Pulmonary Care.Perform administrative duties consistent with the medical management of the MICU.The incumbents are expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and treatment of disease. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team. The incumbents are expected to adhere to stated policies and provide timely documentation of clinical notes and timely interpretation and closure of diagnostic reports, consults, and clinic encounters.In addition, the incumbents are expected to coordinate and communicate the treatment plan with Hospitalists, Primary Care Providers, nursing staff, social workers, clerical staff, pharmacy and other sub-specialists and ancillary staff. The ideal candidates will help to ensure that the highest quality patient care is delivered in a resourceful and efficient manner.This physician should assist the process improvement and quality assurance projects of the ICU. In this role, the incumbents will provide feedback and patient education to the patients and their families and demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care and meets or exceeds compliance standards. This would include clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division in a way that contributes to the mission and goals of the organization. The incumbents will provide consultative feedback and management on patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA outpatient clinics and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned. Physicians would participate as members on committees that impact the hospital delivery of care.Responsible for VHA laws, regulations, and policies; Facility's bylaws, and SOPs/SOW/Instructions of Supervisor and/or supervisory alignment.Other tasks as assigned by Supervisory alignment.Work Schedule7:00am-7:00pm - 7 days on, 7 days off. Some variation to tour of duty may be approved per discretion of ACOS of Medicine.
