The right person brings experience, expertise, and an unrelenting drive to improve cash flows for clients. You will need to have a self-driven, conscientious mentality with a commitment to creating innovations through high-quality work.Our Managers, work with our clients to plan for and manage various sales and use tax issues. This is a consulting position, and your work with us will include assisting clients in various capacities related to sales/use tax matters. In general, you can expect to:Lead and manage multiple complex sales and use tax engagements.Develop and implement innovative tax planning strategies for clients.Monitor and communicate changes in state tax laws and regulations.Provide clear and comprehensive written communications on key tax issues to the firm and clients.Mentor and develop Associates and Senior Associates enhancing their technical and client service skills.Cultivate strong client relationships and deliver exceptional client service.You're perfect for this role if you:Possess a fundamental understanding of state tax laws and regulationsKeep high standards of accuracy and organizationEnjoy meeting deadlines and feeling a sense of accomplishmentNegotiate with confidenceThink critically and recognize when something is offCommunicate difficult and complicated topics with ease and simplicityApply your technical expertise to varied client issues/needs and provide creative, insightful analysisWork well independently and as part of a teamBuild strong internal and external working relationshipsManage your time well and prioritize tasks effectivelyWhat You BringBachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.CPA, CMI, or JD is a plusMinimum of 6 years of state and local tax experience with a focus on indirect (sales & use) tax compliance and consulting.Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop staff.Strong relationship management and practice development skills.Demonstrated ability to attract new clients and expand services to existing clients.What We Provide At Merit, we ask a lot of our employees, which is why we give so much in return.
