About the role

Lead with Purpose. Live Where Others Vacation. Build your career in one of the Pacific Northwest's most beautiful communities. Noo-Kayet Investments (NKI), the economic development arm of the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Director to lead our people strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll guide HR operations across a diverse and growing portfolio that includes The Point Casino & Hotel, food distribution, retail, fuel operations, cannabis, and commercial real estate. This is more than an HR leadership role-it's an opportunity to shape workplace culture, develop future leaders, expand opportunities for Tribal Members, and make a lasting impact throughout the organization and community.
Why You'll Love It Here: Located in Kingston, Washington, NKI offers the perfect blend of meaningful work and Pacific Northwest living. Enjoy scenic waterfront views, beaches, forests, hiking, kayaking, and easy ferry access to the greater Seattle area. Whether you love outdoor adventure or a quieter community lifestyle, the Kitsap Peninsula is an incredible place to live, work, and grow.
What You’ll Do: Lead recruitment, retention, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and performance management. Develop strategies that strengthen culture, engagement, and organizational success. Coach and inspire a high-performing HR team. Advance Tribal Member employment and professional-development opportunities. Lead succession planning and workforce integration for new enterprises. Partner with executive leadership, the NKI Board, Tribal Government, and regulatory agencies.
What You’ll Bring: Bachelor's degree and at least five years of HR management experience. SHRM-CP or PHR certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months. Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices. Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to obtain and maintain a Class III Gaming License. A graduate degree, THRP certification, and experience working with Tribal communities or enterprises are preferred. Ready to lead with purpose while building a life in the beautiful Pacific Northwest? We'd love to hear from you. NKI exercises Tribal Preference in accordance with its Tribal Preference Policy.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
