About the role

CMG is looking for a motivated and outgoing Buyer / Business Development Assistant. This is a business- development-focused purchasing role with a clear path toward becoming an independent Buyer. Our Buyers develop and maintain relationships with suppliers across the U.S., purchase recyclable metals and electronic materials, follow market price changes, negotiate purchasing prices, and turn new contacts into long-term suppliers. Industry experience is not required. We care more about communication skills, initiative, persistence, market awareness, and willingness to learn.
What You’ll Do: Develop new suppliers through phone calls, emails, online research, referrals, and other channels. Communicate with potential and existing suppliers daily and consistently follow up on opportunities. Learn metal, electronics, and recyclable-material grades and understand how market changes affect purchasing prices. Prepare purchase offers, negotiate pricing and terms, and help turn leads into recurring suppliers. Coordinate with operations and logistics teams to complete transactions and maintain accurate customer records. Gradually develop and manage your own supplier accounts and book of business. Who We’re Looking For Enjoys talking to people and building business relationships. Comfortable making outbound calls and contacting people you have never met. Communicates clearly, confidently, and professionally; able to persuade without being overly aggressive. Persistent with follow-up and able to handle rejection and performance pressure. Sensitive to numbers, pricing, and market changes; organized enough to manage multiple customers at once. Motivated by goals and interested in a long-term career in purchasing, trading, sales, or business development. Experience & Career Path Experience in sales, customer service, purchasing, account management, recruiting, logistics, trading, or business development is a plus, but not required. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
