Now Hiring: Senior Estimator
Location: Frederick, MDOur client is a well-established commercial construction firm that is over 100 years old is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their growing team in their Frederick office. As an Estimator you will be responsible for estimating the cost, time, materials, labor, and equipment required for a project. You will perform cost analyses, determine the duration of a project, procure vendors and subcontractors, and ensure that resources are managed, and deadlines are met. A successful Estimator can manage smaller scale projects and support deliverables from the Chief Estimator.
Key Responsibilities: Develop accurate and detailed estimates for commercial construction projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements, project objectives, and company standards. Perform detailed quantity take-offs, organize quantities within estimating files, and develop pricing for both subcontracted and self-performed work. Attend project site visits, pre-bid meetings, and pre-proposal meetings to assess project requirements and site conditions. Determine total project costs, including materials, equipment, labor, utilities, subcontractor costs, and self-perform work. Prepare detailed cost reports, including project cost breakdowns, estimates, and forecasts of remaining costs. Develop and prepare competitive, accurate bid proposals based on project scope, estimated costs, and projected project requirements. Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing to ensure complete and competitive estimates. Communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams to coordinate resources, clarify scope, and support project deadlines. Provide exceptional customer service throughout the estimating and preconstruction process, including contract execution and timely resolution of client questions or issues. Analyze current market conditions, historical project data, material pricing, and labor trends to anticipate pricing volatility, material escalation, and labor availability. Identify potential project risks, scope gaps, and cost-saving opportunities during the estimating process. Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and leadership to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project execution.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, economics or an equivalent degree. Minimum 10 years of experience as an estimator for a general contractor or subcontractor Knowledge of principles for bid development processes and estimating techniques. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs. Familiar with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff or Sage Construction Estimating software What Our Client Offers They are committed to their people.
