About the role
- Admit and discharge incoming surgical patients
- Provide excellent customer service to all incoming patients
- Maintain efficient and organized work areas.
- Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies based on surgeon preference.
- Select equipment and supplies in an organized, cost effective and timely manner.
- Demonstrate skill in appropriate use of instruments and equipment.
- Keep surgical suites clean, tidy, free of soiled equipment and supplies, and properly stocked.
- Follow established policies and procedures for surgical counts.
- Demonstrate ability to create and maintain a sterile field.
- Uses principles of aseptic practice in varying situations.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Assist with OR turnover, and preparation of sterile supplies (e.g. opening, case pulling).Experience Requirements 2 years experience in a healthcare or medical business where you function as an assistant or technician role.
- Proficiency with computer software, including electronic medical record (EMR or HER) systems required.
- Proven experience working in a cohesive team environment
- Proven ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Proven ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to change.
- Knowledge of sterile environment procedures preferred, but not required
